The Canada Council for the Arts distributes annual payments to Canadian authors through the Public Lending Right (PLR) Program as compensation for the free public access to their books in Canadian public libraries.


Eligible work includes original writing, translation, illustration, and photography contained in library books across a range of literary and scholarly genres.


The professional expertise of the PLR Commission serves to provide oversight and guidance to the criteria and operations of the PLR Program.


The PLR registration period is closed.


Registration period: 15 February to 1 May 2018

Registrations received outside of the registration period will NOT be accepted and will be returned to the sender.

Registered Authors__________________________
The PLR cycle takes a full year to complete. PLR payments will be mailed out to registered authors who quality in mid-February 2018. We will include a personalized File Update form, which we ask you to use to submit new titles or new editions or formats of already registered titles.
